Constructed years ago in the heart of Antigua, Guatemala, Bärehuus is a modern-built bed and breakfast containing decoration from both Switzerland and Guatemala. Bärehuus or The House of the Bear was named after a wooden bear carved with a chainsaw by the renowned Swiss sculptor Hermann Schönbächler. The legend says the bears guards the house and its occupants at night.

We are located 3 blocks from the park and San José Cathedral. It is a very practical and privileged location in which everything is close. Restaurants, bars, museums, convents, churches, art galleries, jewelers, and much more. Note, we are just a few steps from the Ruinas de la Concepción. Despite our amazing location, the bed and breakfast is located in a quiet residential area, perfect for a good night's rest.

The legend says the bear guards the house and its occupants at night. As of late, Bärehuus has been extended to eight beautiful rooms packed with all the essentials you will need during your trip.
Our Rooms
Picture yourself overlooking the grand Agua volcano with a rich Guatemalan coffee in hand and enjoying your stay in the very centre of Antigua. Bärehuus features a picturesque interior patio and a wide terrace from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Agua volcano.
The spacious bedrooms contain Serta beds and blackout curtains accommodated for a comfortable rest. Each one of our lovely bathrooms includes rain-effect showers with assured around-the-clock maintenance. Guests are welcome to order any tea, coffee and soft drinks at an additional price.
